Biographical Information: Apollonius was born around 262 in Perga, Pamphylia, Greek Ionia. There is little known about his life, but there is information that he studied under the followers of Euclid in Alexandria. It is known that he had a son, and he also wrote a famous book. He died about 190 in Alexandria, Egypt.
Impact: Apollonius developed the hemicyclium which is a sundial that has the hour lines drawn on the surface for more accurate telling of the time. He is known as the “Great Geometer”; he helped found the Greek mathematical astronomy which introduced the theory of planetary.
