Apollo was originally shown as being very young and immature. He was the son of Zeus and Leto. Hera, Zeus's wife, was mad and wouldn't let apollo be born on Mount Olympus. He and his twin sister Artemis, were then born on Delos where Apollo had a great temple (Hamilton 433). Through out his life, he loved many women and had many quarrels with men (Hamilton 292). Unfortunately for apollo, his love life never worked out and he was always sad because of that. He was also in trouble with his dad all the time (Hamilton 238). He was used in the movie clash of the titans to try and warn Zeus to not trust Hades. Zeus doesn't listen even though apollo is the god of truth. Also there is a book about Apollo that Rick Riordan wrote that is when apollo is punished by Zeus. Zeus turns him into a mortal teen and he has to complete a quest. One of the most known uses of the name apollo is the apollo space missions. “Abe Silverstein, Director of Space Flight Development, proposed the name "Apollo" because it was the name of a god in ancient Greek mythology with attractive connotations” (Manned Space Flight). The name apollo was also chosen because they wanted to keep the greek and roman mythology but mercury was taken (Manned Space Flight).
