The year is 1961 and the U.S. is six years deep in a space race with the Soviet Union to show off to each other who has the best air and space capabilities. President Kennedy gives a speech saying that we will go to the moon “not because it is easy, but because it is hard” (Engle). Less than a decade later, on July 20th, 1969 at 20:17:40 UTC, the Apollo 13 mission put Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon (“Theories”). Ever since that day the people have doubted the fact that we ever put people on the moon. An opinion poll found six percent of American believed the U.S. did not go to the moon, with it jumping to 20% after Fox released the 2001 documentary: Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon?…

Since the particles that are currently present on Earth have been weathered over time they have lost their jaggedness and can only be compressed in moisture. Even in the absence of moisture the moon boots that the astronauts wore can leave a clean, distinct footprint in the lunar regolith. The photo of Buzz Aldrin departing the LM, the photo of the flag on the moon, the photo of the LM and rocks on the moon, and the photo of Aldrin’s footprint in the lunar regolith disprove the theory that the Apollo 11 moon landing was faked. The moon landing of 1969 was able to help push the…

I had always been fascinated by modern mysteries and conspiracy theories, but before this class, I had no clue what to accept and how to analyze the information that I was presented to me. I chose the topic of the Moon Landing, because it enabled me to take a second look at the conspiracy theory through a new lens of experience. To understand where this idea of a hoax originates, we need to understand what was going on before the Apollo 11 moon landing. Starting in the 1950s, America was in a cold war with Soviet Russia, which was less of a physical battle and more of a challenge of who had a better structured government. It was a challenge of superiority that eventually led to the space race in 1955.…

Apollo 11 discovered that the moon is lifeless; containing no living organisms, fossils, or native organic compounds (SNASM). Extensive research and testing revealed no proof for life, past or present, to be found in the lunar samples. Because of the idea of aliens inhabiting the lunar land, a plaque was attached to the leg of the lunar landing vehicle that read “ HERE MEN FROM THE PLANET EARTH FIRST STEP FOOT UPON THE MOON JULY 1969 A.D. WE CAME IN PEACE FOR ALL MANKIND” (SNASM). This plaque was signed by former president Richard Nixon along with all three astronauts that took part in the lunar landing mission.…

Conspiracy Theory Essay The conspiracy that I decided to do is back on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong becoming the first man to walk on the moon was actually a hoax set up by NASA. In photographs, it looks to be seen that the American flag is blowing in the breeze even though there is no atmosphere along with the shadows do not match up. Where Apollo 11 landed, there also is no crater, there are too many light sources and the Van Allen radiation belt should have cooked the astronauts, unexplained objects, slow motion walking, and the hidden cables, lack of starts the “c” rock and the backdrop photo. Lots of people believe that the moon landing never happened and that it was the US government asset to their victory over Russia in…

The Moon Landing Conspiracy On July 20, 1969, the United States supposedly landed on the moon. Millions of people believe this, but millions don’t. Millions of people believe that the Apollo 11 mission successfully landed on the moon, and that Neil Armstrong was the first human to step on the moon, followed by Buzz Aldrin. Millions of people believe that this is a hoax, to win the “space race” of the 1960’s.…

What the U.S didn’t know was that all of it was faked. Many Americans can debate for or against the first moon landing being a hoax. “Bill Kaysing has claimed that the chance of a successful landing on the moon was calculated to be 0.0017% (1 in 60,000).” (Braeunig) Bill Kaysing is a writer who wrote about all the Apollo landings being hoaxes and basically started the whole theory.…

The theory states that the U.S. government were incredibly desperate to defeat the Russians in the space race, so they staged the lunar landings, along with Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin acting out their mission on a secret film set, located either high in the Hollywood Hills or deep within Area 51. Many different articles and websites claim that the Moon landing was a hoax. Enki Village’s article Moon Landing Hoax gives the top 10 reasons to believe that it was actually staged. The number one reason for the article is that the flag waves back and forth as if there was some sort of wind or breeze, but there is no breeze on the moon, meaning there is no air in the moon’s atmosphere. That means there is absolutely no wind whatsoever.…

I want to believe For years, humans have looked up to the stars, wondering what is in space. As time passed and science evolved, the human race discovered many wondrous objects in space. Space has, for some, become a land of fantasy and storytelling. This has led some people to come up with conspiracy theories about space and extraterrestrial life that are absolutely absurd. One of the most interesting theories is that President Obama was teleported into space in the 1980s as part of an elite team that was trying to make contact with aliens.…
