Apollo Missions
I have always thought that the whole idea of landing on the moon was amazing. When I first started looking into the Apollo Missions I had no Idea what I was going to discover. I looked at a few articles that talked about the geology of the moon’s surface and how there are valleys, mountains, and craters all over the moon, then I started comparing that to the earth’s surface and thinking about how the valleys and mountains on the earth formed, the first thing that came to my mind was earthquakes. I decided to see if there were any kind of quakes on the moon, and I was a little surprised to discover that there are four different kinds of moon quakes. The first one is called deep moon quakes which happen 700 km beneath the surface.

One of the most remarkable feats of space exploration was the landing of a man on the Moon. On July 16, 1969, NASA launched its famous Saturn V rocket into orbit for a journey across the void of space to Earth’s only natural satellite. A little over a hundred hours after launch, it accomplished what many people considered impossible just a few years ago—a man from Earth walked on the lunar surface. The crew collected rock samples and performed numerous experiments, in the process greatly expanding the databases of knowledge on the Moon…

Astropedia 5.6: During a new or a full moon, the gravitational pull that the moon has on the earth that causes the tides is a bit stronger. The gravitational pull is what increases the chance of an earthquake occurring and this is more likely to occur when the gravitational pull is acting on the tectonic plates, which could cause them to shift or move, which would cause an earthquake. 3. For years, people have stated that they have had encounters with the paranormal, but their story usually goes untold nationally. With the Montana UFO story, it was covered up by the media/government and only came to public awareness years later. This is the case with nearly all related incidents (since they are seen as threats to national security). The text includes an exert on the Malmstrom Air Force Base in which records of UFOs were noted. The Air Force did not believe the UFOs were helicopters despite what the media suggested; whatever it was, it remained unidentified, which is why it considered a UFO.…

The Apollo 11 mission is credited for not only landing a man on the moon, but also for collecting the first samples from another planetary body (SNASM). Through the research, many theories were proven to either be true or false. Prior to the moon landing, scientists had many questions concerning the moon’s surface and even the possibility of life on the moon. Before the moon landing , the idea of life on the moon was widely accepted. Apollo 11, however proved that idea wrong.…

I had always been fascinated by modern mysteries and conspiracy theories, but before this class, I had no clue what to accept and how to analyze the information that I was presented to me. I chose the topic of the Moon Landing, because it enabled me to take a second look at the conspiracy theory through a new lens of experience. To understand where this idea of a hoax originates, we need to understand what was going on before the Apollo 11 moon landing. Starting in the 1950s, America was in a cold war with Soviet Russia, which was less of a physical battle and more of a challenge of who had a better structured government. It was a challenge of superiority that eventually led to the space race in 1955.…

UFOs, alien sightings, and abductions seem to come from science fiction novels since there is a lack of “actual” evidence. The beliefs of society are that aliens bring humans to their spaceships, do surgeries and bring them back to the ground miles away from the place of abduction. Are aliens real? If so then what do they want with us? Aliens are a mystery that only time and evidence can solve.…

An earthquake is the phenomenon that a huge energy suddenly released and appeared in the Earth’s crust when two moved plates slip past one another. The earthquakes usually happen in the convergent boundaries, divergent boundaries and transform boundaries. In the three kinds of boundaries, the convergent boundary often produces the largest magnitude earthquakes. Because when the two plates collide strongly in the convergent boundary, the extreme pressure and the great friction will appear. So the convergent boundary is more likely to have a large magnitude earthquake.…

Because these types of earthquakes are of a large spread, they cause greater damage at the earth’s crust. Roughly 75% of the world’s energy released from earthquakes are from shallow ones. As for deep earthquakes, they occur in sub-ducting oceanic plates, moving beneath the continental plates. They happen with larger magnitudes, as a ton of energy is released by the collision of the plates. Geologists often use triangulation as a way of finding the locations of Earthquakes.…
