Michael Collins, born Oct. 30, 1930 in Rome, he became a pilot of fighters and experimental planes for the U.S. Air Force. He became an astronaut in 1963 and piloted Gemini X in 1966.
The idea of Apollo 11 was started when Kennedy made a statement on May 25,
1961. Stated in a local article “President John F. Kennedy announced before a special joint session of Congress the dramatic and ambitious goal of sending an American safely to the moon before the end of the decade.”. Some might think that eight years is a long time to get everything together, but they forget that technology was not as advanced as it is right now. “The Apollo computers had less processing power than a cellphone.” In order for the astronauts to have a safe lunar landing scientist had to study the moon’s surface for two years. “Mission planners at NASA studies lunar surface for two years, searching for the best place to make the historic landing.” As they were heading to the moon it was said that the astronauts made a total of three broadcast. Just in case anything unexpected was to happen President Nixon had a speech prepared, which began the with the line “fate has ordained that the men who went to the moon to explore in peace will stay to rest in peace.” The team splashed down in the Pacific Ocean at 12:50 p.m. EDT on July 24.
Even though Apollo 11 was an inspiring and successful moment in American history there are skeptics that believe that the whole thing was staged in order to be awarded. These accusation are not coming for nowhere, one of the reason is because as the live streaming of the astronauts was being aired some viewers said that they saw the american flag wave, which is impossible because there is no wind in space so there is no reason for that to happen. Also some say that there was a lack of blast
