During research of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), revealed the ANCC discontinued administration of the Advanced Diabetes Management (ADM) certification in 2010. Upon completion of my degree through Capella and successful passing of the Board Certified Advanced Diabetes Management exam, I plan to continue to practice in my clinic setting and immediately enroll in school to complete my final education goal to obtain my advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in family medicine with focus in diabetes management. Despite completing a graduate level degree with Capella, my educational requirements to become an advanced nurse practitioner requires a graduate level degree from a nationally recognized accredited nursing program. Course requirements include three broad based courses in advanced physiology/pathophysiology, health assessment and advanced pharmacology with completion of a minimum of 500 facility –supervised clinical hours in the role and patient population (ANCC,
