Aphorism essay A truly outstanding wise man had once said these words,” Ask and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you”. His name is Jesus, and I adopted this aphorism in my own life. The reason no, the reasons I wanted to use this is because I want to be remembered in life, be able to help out my family more back in Mexico, I care more deeply about them and their needs, than I do my own self. People today need to adopt this in their daily lives if they truly care about their families and also want to help support their wants and needs that they deserve. This aphorism connects to my life.…
In this article, Chris Widener tells the audience 10 things he wish he knew before he went out in the real world. These lessons aren’t the type that are taught by teachers, but they are lessons people come to realize just through living life and growing up. For a lot of people, these negative aspects are sheltered by their parents throughout childhood or they are something a child cannot experience just simply because they are too young. At the end, Widener lets the audience know that although there are certainly negative parts of just living life, but life can still be wonderful depending on whether or not you choose to look at life with a positive attitude. While reading this article, I could definitely agree and connect to some of the…
Have you spent your life on things that make it worth living? Are you simply existing in this life or are you living in it? Anna Quindlen in her Commencement Address at Villanova College forces us to ask ourselves these questions as she leaves long lasting imprints in the minds of the attendees and graduates. Quindlen’s use of rhetorical devices, personal stories, and quotes helps her express her main points, that one must make their life worth living and that life should never be taken for granted because there are so many things to live for. Throughout Qundlen’s speech she uses all three of the appeals to create a connection with her audience.…
In the article “Finding Flow” by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi he expresses that we need to choose from now to when our time is done whether to live or to die. He explains that we need to take control of our own path and not let outside sources get in the way. Csikszentmihalyi expresses that being alive is to live life to the fullest. By this he means not to waste time or any potential. In a study Csikszentmihalyi did with his class at a factory he found that most workers hated their job other than one man named Joe.…
Many things in my project represent a connection to the book, Tuesdays with Morrie, and the my own personal experiences with my uncle. To start, the tree with no leaves represents the exact aphorism,"Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live" (142). The tree is going to dormant for the winter however for the following spring will be alive and with green leaves. That to me symbolizing something more powerful than words can describe; in a sense when we die here on earth, God teaches us how to live when we are in perfect union with him in heaven. The aphorisms that make the tree's bark connect to the idea that the aphorisms that Morrie Schwartz gave us, share a new idea of living.…
This book “Tuesdays with Morrie” , is about a man who has a medical condition which is slowly taking away his ability to even move and talk, this is called ALS. He expresses his thoughts on life and on death, and about everything in life people usually have a hard time expressing. I really did like this book in the fact of he talks about things that have gone through my mind at some point. Also just hearing Morries stories leading to how he lived his last days and how he grew was inspiring. Some aphorisms that stood out to me were, 1.…
In a soeciety where we heave almoest limitless informeation at our fingertips, we have grown to develop some very negative characteristics. Simultaneously, the lens through which we perceive the world has been skewed. Since we have such easy access to so many different things, information is retrieved almost as quickly it is desired. As a result, we have forgotten the importance of the journey. Inestead, we are eager to get to the light at the end of the tunnel as quickly as possible.…

As she gives information of the importance of educators living in the present with their students, the present is stacked to the point where there is no balance—a happy medium— between the present and reality of the future. Yes, “only the present is real and available to us,” (Conklin, 2010, p. 61) but the future is inevitable and fate based. The future is an accumulation of what happens in the present. Between present and future, the latter is progressive; therefore, it is reasonable to perceive both of them concurrently. By using Hanh’s argument for “mindfulness” (Conklin, 2010, p. 62) in the present, Hanh does not connect the fact that people multi-task to maximize their allotted hours in a day.…
Think about it. If we live by seizing the day, then we are finding our purpose, forgetting the past, and focusing on today. But at the same time it’s an objectively crazy advice. If one person has no care for tomorrow, then why not get drunk every night, try every drug out there, or gamble their money away? Is it something we need to live by?…
According to John Locke, humans are born with natural rights and the government acts as our agent to exercise these rights. However, without this form of government or law, life as we know it, would become a "free for all" so to speak. What does it mean to give up stability and routine in our life? It takes a dedicated and thorough individual to live a well-organized life as they work hard to ensure all of their endeavours are accomplished at a certain time.…
Life is short, so live it before it 's too late. Even though this saying is cliche to an extent it is the truth. I support this statement one-hundred percent. Personally, I have seen individuals live timid and unhappy. I could never understand the reason for this.…
Morrie from “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch Albom says many aphorisms that will make me evolve in the future. Morrie used thirty-one aphorisms in his book and I have chosen three that I am able to connect with. Morrie and Mitch together throughout the book influenced me . Morrie from “Tuesdays with Morrie” reminded me of why I should love, that it is never too late for family, and not to reflect my life off others.…
The world is a buzzing place with endless sites to see, people to meet and possessions to own. The problem with this buzzing society, is that we forget to live in the moment, and enjoy each day to the fullest. People are consumed with worrying about how much they ‘have’, which can leave them competitive, materialistic, selfish, and forgetting what is really important. Henry David Thoreau believes to combat this, people need to simplify their lives, minimize the amount of friends they have, meals they eat, and possessions they own (1102). Thoreau graduated from Harvard university and throughout his life he worked as a tutor, house painter, carpenter, mason, surveyor and pencil maker.…
As I reflect on my personal life I value life itself to the point I live each day not knowing what to expect the next day. Positivity is a major factor in all that I do to the point of trying to view all things in a positive way and leaving the negativity out the door. As a mother, partner, educator, and entrepreneur I strive to be mindful, spiritual, and conscious of all my actions. I value these things because this is what makes up my life and what I live for each day. My life is a fourth generation person and I relate because I “want to live, love, learn, and leave it like a seed with balance and joy" (Covey, 73) the quality of my life is more important than planning it out.…
