Students lose their will to succeed for many reasons, one of them being that they don’t feel good enough or have things going on in their lives that makes them lose motivation for further perseverance. “Introduced for the 2013-2014 school year, the new standards-based grading system was implemented to provide students and parents with a thorough evaluation on students’ ability to master their learning goals. Students are graded on a 0-5 point scale, rather than on the traditional percentage scale” (Morton201). With this they achieve their goal of “no child left behind” (Morton201). With this new system it has been impossible to receive an A+ on a class but also impossible to fail a class. Which benefits students when they don’t feel like trying too much in a class but makes it very difficult when they do. This leaves many students in the middle resulting in more average
