On April 27, 2018 Police Officer Nicholas Hayden, DSN 11468, and I (Police Officer James Harris III, DSN 0513) were on routine patrol at 35 South Grand Boulevard (Shell’s Gas Station), when were stopped by a male victim regarding an “Assault” just occurred.

The male victim advised while he was pumping gas at the above mentioned location, an unknown black male walked up and struck him on the right side of his face with an open hand before fleeing the area south on South Grand Boulevard.

The male victim further described the suspect as a black male, dark completion approximately 30 years of age, 5’5-5’7, 130lbs, with a full beard. He was wearing a white tee shirt, dark colored pants, and white underwear.

The male victim refused police assistance advising he just wanted to inform the police about the incident.

An area canvas of the suspect was conducted, and we located a subject who matched the description given by the male victim at South Grand Boulevard and Interstate

I observed James M. flee south on South Grand Boulevard to which time I gave him numerous commands to stop running. He ran onto Metro Bus 2210 which was parked at this location. I boarded the bus and observed James M. striking approximately three individuals while running to the rear of the bus. I retrieved my department issued taser (serial number: X30002PNT) from my holster and fired one cartridge from approximately two feet, striking James M. in the right side of his upper back, for a five second interval. James M. fell to the ground and he began to kick his feet striking Officer Hayden and me. I fired my second cartridge missing James M. at which time, Officer Hayden removed his department issued taser (serial number X30002H7Y) from its holster and fired one cartridge striking James M. in his upper right torso and right leg. James M. continued to flail and resist detainment at which time we request for another two men
