Ap Language Teacher Reflection Paper

In less than one semester, I have met Mr. Lorenzi, my AP Language teacher. I was very nervous joining the class, because I joined the class two weeks later than the other students. By the second day, I finally asked a question and Mr. Lorenzi went on to spend around 30 minutes on an impromptu class debate. He finished off the day saying that he loves when we ask questions, and it was the first time that I had ever felt a connection with a teacher and felt that they truly did like our questions as students.
English has always been my least favorite core class, because I felt like it was boring compared to classes in the STEM field. During this first semester the opposite has proven to be true. Mr. Lorenzi has taught me that we are labeled as statistics by those in power, but also emphasized that we do not need to be defined by those statistics. Most importantly, he emphasizes that knowledge is power; we as future leaders of the world need to analyze and question those in power.

He made all of his students, to the dismay of the authorities at our school, do a research paper on the STEM field and the amount of underemployment that is present in the job market; he correctly convinced me that what I believed was a safe future, is not as safe as I believe. But this did not discourage me. I am motivated to do whatever it takes to stand out as a leader in helping others. I will not be discouraged by such a thing, but rather I will use it as motivation to prove to the education system that I am not just a name with an SAT score next to it, but a man on a mission to help change the world no matter the
