Ap Class Reflection

Decent Essays
My second year of high school was difficult for me as I had taken on my first AP class and I had learned that my aunt had been diagnosed with cancer. That year took a toll on my grades, overall GPA, and class ranking, which all went down because I focused all of my attention solely on my one AP class. I would also be constantly worried about my aunt and I would catch myself drifting off just thinking about her, hoping that she was okay. Junior year, I was determined to obtain a higher GPA and a better class ranking, and as a result I would skip out on family events when I had homework to do and I would spend all of my time in my room each day to finish it. First semester, I achieved my goal and received a 4.0, I was excited and proud of myself.

That was when I realized how much I was struggling with the free response sections of the AP Calculus test, I took it into my own hands to study so I can achieve a 5.My teacher had told me that a 4 was sufficient but I aspired to achieve a 5 because that was my goal.…

Due to the symptoms, or should I say my inability to cope with the symptoms, Freshman and Sophomore year were difficult for me. Which unfortunately reflected in my grades. I allowed myself to be the victim of the cards I was dealt in this life instead of making some cool disappearing card trick or something out of them. I felt since I was active in so many things, I was a good person. Little did I realize that it is not the quantity of activities a person participates in, but the quality in which those activities are…

For my final portfolio, I chose to revise a shorter essay, “Potential Ramifications of a Trump Presidency,” and a longer essay, “Assignment 7: Finding Place Research Project.” I chose these two essays specifically because of their differences. The former is shorter, more informal, and includes more of my thoughts and opinions. The latter is a longer research paper, and thus is more formal and less biased as I attempted to give a brief history of gentrification and its impacts on East Liberty.…

Despite the fact that I have faced challenges with the subject as of late, I would consider English to be one of my favorites. During my junior year, I was enrolled in AP English Language and Composition, and although it was the only class I did not receive an A grade in, it, without a doubt, altered how I perceive the world. English did not only improve my writing and analytical skills, but it also prepared me for life beyond my education. Being an AP class, the curriculum was designed to help me get the best score that I could on the AP test. Almost every class period, a discussion would be held regarding a specific topic, typically related to the unit we were focusing on at the time.…
