My choice to have biochemistry as my major was the most logical, because for all of my life I have been interested in what life is composed of. I looked at the incredible things that people and animals do and I found that all the intricate working of biology and chemistry that made all of their actions possible, only added to the awesomeness of it all. Another important factor in my life that started my interest into the science of biology was my mother, who has a genetic anemia called Fanconi Anemia. She has lived with this genetic disease for all of her life and it has had a toll on her quality of life. From my earliest memories she has struggled with blood transfusions and bone marrow biopsies.…

Through my four years in high school, one of the toughest classes I faced was AP biology. The rigorous course involved an intense 48 chapter lesson plan with a 2 hour AP exam at the end of the school year. Near the end of my junior, I was skeptical of taking this class, as I heard from my fellow classmates that the class was difficult to earn a decent grade. With this in mind, I began preparing for the class over the summer by reading the textbook, and practicing using the workbook. As I read the book, I became deeply interested in this subject.…

I decided to enroll in AP Government and Economics it is the class that has the most utility for me. Starting towards the middle of freshman year in Honors Global History, I thought going into a higher history class was a good idea, so I decided to enroll in AP US History, which was one of the better decisions in my life. That class was a good experience so I wanted to take AP again in junior year. There are multiple benefits that drove me to make this decision; the first is content. In every single class in school (maybe except for math), I want to learn the most about that subject so AP would provide the huge benefit of having the most content so I would learn the most about the government and macroeconomics.…

It had been a year since I've taken a biology class, my last being in senior year of high school. AP Biology was a must for a biology major, but taking "the basics" in the first year of community college was a norm and only slightly prepared me for taking Cellular and Molecular Biology. It was a small set back having to take this course since getting a 3 on the AP Biology Exam didn't exempt me in the first place, but in the light of things, I've told myself that this class will be a breeze for me. I knew all the materials; getting A's on most of the labs and tests only proved my pre-existing knowledge. The instructor was coffee-driven and energetic.…
