Alternative Treatments for Anxiety: Meditation

One possible treatment for anxiety that I found in my local area is meditation. From an article written by SFGate journalist Deepak Chopra, “meditation helps with [anxiety] by making the overactive mind quiet [by] identifying with the silence that exists between every mental action.” Other studies state that meditation is also beneficial because of the improvement in negative personality traits and stress. From personal experiences, I can honestly say that meditating is difficult at first; it was uncomfortable for me to sit for a long period of time and concentrate on one thought on my mind rather than being distracted by the noises around me.
