Anxiety Informative Speech

It could be happening to anyone around you. Literally anyone. It could be your mother, your brother, a friend, even the man bagging your groceries. The scariest part about high-functioning anxiety and depression is that it is not something you can visibly see. Sometimes, even the people I see everyday don’t know I’m struggling because I’m able to cover it up and keep it buried.
When you’re feeling ill, you go to the doctor. You tell your doctor your symptoms and they tell you what's wrong. They’ll give you medicine or tell you a few homeopathic remedies and send you on your way. You have the flu, just keep monitoring your temperature and drink lots of fluids. She has a bladder infection, treatable with a few rounds of antibiotics, nothing to worry about. It seems to looks like just a little eczema patch, not too serious, just make sure you apply a heavy duty moisturizer three times a day, and it’ll clear up. With something like anxiety and depression, the solution is not as simple.

The hardest part of trying to describe what it’s like, is trying to pinpoint one specific feeling. It’s like having a bunch of friends and not wanting to see them. It’s like waking up and feeling two times as tired you were the night before. It’s constantly saying sorry when you’ve done nothing wrong. It’s overworking to please the people around you, and still feeling like it’s not enough. Then, they’ll hand you a sheet of paper or two. The paper will have a bunch of things listed on it, each once followed by a scale of zero to five. Zero being never, five being almost everyday. They will ask you to fill it out honestly, and give it back to them when you’re done. How often do you feel anxious or worried for no reason? 5. How often do you feel down, depressed or hopeless? 4. How often do you feel little interest or pleasure in doing daily things?

The joys of a new baby are numerous for couples, it’s an addition to your family, a new person to love; but a new child also means new responsibilities, a new found source of stress and in some cases depression for the new moms. The particular type of depression I’m referring to is known as postpartum depression. The depression is common for most women, and last for around two weeks, typically starting around the second, or third day after the birth of their baby. This is whats known as the “postpartum baby blues” but those that last longer and are more severe are what 's referred…
