The Anxiety and Depression Association of America, commonly known as the ADAA, is a non profit organization established to help people of any age recover from their mental disorder. It targets the 40 million people who suffer from “anxiety, obsessive -compulsive, and trauma-related disorders” (Programs). Not only does it help people who meet the criteria, but it also provides treatment, practices and an education about the particular disorder (ADAA).
In 1979, a group of “diverse clinicians and patients” met to try and help the people out around the country (ADAA). They wanted to address a serious issue in society and try and fix it.
