Antz Leadership Styles

The movie “Antz” related to ideas we have studied in Civics by, showing a non-democratic society, showing an autocratic leadership style, and showing that Z wanted their colony to be like a utopia. The movie shows a non-democratic society, because each ant has a set place within society, which removes the opportunity to choose for yourself what you will do, or how you will do it. In a democratic society, we have the opportunity to exercise the choice of what we do, and this is because we are offered freedom here in Canada. An autocratic leadership style is shown in “Antz” because the General Mandible is the one making all of the decisions and judgements based on what he thinks is right, without the regards of the other ants of course. Moreover, it is shown that Z wanted their colony to be like a utopia because of his actions that proved his goal for an …show more content…
Z is a huge believer of individualism. He believes that everyone should have the right to express themselves freely, and make decisions for themselves. Z dislikes the way that his society is run. He often questioned why he had to listen to what the colony asks of him, or why someone else gets to choose that he is to become a worker. He believes that individuals should be involved in the system, and that they should be remarked as individuals, not just working ants. Z values individualism, freedom, and fairness. This all resembles a democratic government. Like Z, Princess Bala valued what Z valued. She was engaged to General Mandible by force, she did not like him at all. She wanted to choose what she should do, and who she should marry. Again, this all resembles a democratic government. Introduction The leadership style of Quint Studer reminds me of a bulb, not because the Studer Group and Foundation carries his name has a bulb in the logo, on the contrary, it encourages to “be the bulb.” As described by Cokeley in (2012) an electric current flowed through a filament of carbonized thread and brought the world into light on New Year’s Eve 1879. It was Edison’s vision, and willingness to share that created dynamic change. Both Edison and Studer are exemplar they set raised bar, and have offered (Psalm119:105) light unto the path of many. His straightforward style is no less than genius is as it involves a flywheel, pillars, and organizational change.…

In “Live of a cell,” by Lewis Thomas, Thomas acknowledges the connection between being useless as an individual, but being important when becoming a part of a bigger whole/society. Thomas uses a very critical and bitter tone to express that an ant are like humans, even if we deny the reality that our society are alike ants. Lewis Thomas connects an ant colony at a gallery as a body experiencing torment. Lewis’s experience with 2 million ants dying are exactly the same feelings with 2 million humans dying “twinges of sympathy, and something else” the idea that he feels something within a society, that he refuses to be similar to humans.…

This theory, developed in part by Emile Durkeim, sees society as a complex system whose parts work together to promote solidarity and stability. The ants, one part of the system, work to get the food for themselves and the grasshoppers. The grasshoppers, the other part of the system, provide protection to the ants in return for the food. These two components work together so that each group gets what they need and keeps the society in which they live…

Compare & Contrast Leadership Styles In our text, Leadership is defined as “An area of study marked by the examination of the behaviors of others” (p.378). After reading about the three styles of leadership which are transformational, transactional, and servant leadership, I instantly thought about a scripture which says “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock” (1 Peter 5:2-3, New International Version). Before I start uncovering the similarities between theses three leadership styles, I’m going begin by defining…

There are three different leadership styles with many variations in-between. The difference in these three leadership styles is the level and location of control. At one extreme is the autocratic leader, which makes independent decisions on how to proceed. On the opposite end of the spectrum there are laissez faire leaders, which have a hands-off approach and allows the subordinates to make all the decisions. However, the democratic leader is the medium of the three, which allows more input of the decision making process for his or subordinates.…
