Ants In The Movie The Queen's Society

The movie Antz highlighted different elements of different societies. There were types of society in the movie, The Queen’s, The General’s, Z’s and Insectopia’s. In my opinion, the most successful society of the four options is The Queen’s Society. The Queen’s Society is a monarchy, with different levels of “power”. With the Queen’s Society, the ants were assigned different tasks. Near the beginning of the movie, you can see worker ants digging a tunnel. These ants were assigned the job a “worker ant”. The “worker ant” is in my opinion the lowest level of power in the society. There were also soldier ants shown throughout the movie. On a higher level, there is The General and his accomplices. This would lead to a problem because worker ants are not as capable fighters as soldier ants, leading to a weaker colony. This is evident during the phase where Z and Weaver “switched places”, and Z went out to battle. During the battle, Z was hiding while all the other soldier ants were battling away (at ¼ of the movie). The Queen’s Society guarantees that every ant is assigned a proper job, which results in a very strong colony. This is shown throughout the entire movie as worker ants were always digging, and soldier ants were ready for battle. On the other hand, the society of Z’s guarantees the best quality for its citizens. In my opinion, Z’s society would have been a democracy (not sure because Z’s society was not shown in the movie). In this society, the ants would be able to choose to do things, which would guarantee that every ant enjoyed what they were doing. Insectopia would also be a good society for the ants, but there is no leader. A society without a leader would eventually collapse and everyone would be back to the bottom and would have to start again. Z’s society would strike a balance between individualism, democracy, and
