Born in Venice, Italy in 1678, Antonio Vivaldi was born to make music. Having a violinist for a father, Vivaldi was able to get a leg up in the music scene through his father’s contacts. Vivaldi got his start playing violin with in father in the basilica. Named violin “master” at the Ospedale della Pietà and ordained as a priest, in 1703, Vivaldi was living his dream, but due to his severe shortness of breath he was held back from his dreams of priesthood and forced to quit. Pressing on in the musical world, Vivaldi became a violin master and successfully trained girls in music, writing compositions and having the most talented perform them.
