The Antique Urn
Parked outside Delaware's house, I honk the horn of my car for the third time. That girl is never ready and I’m never patient enough. Finally, she gets out of her house struggling to figure out what to do with the long sleeved plaid shirt her mother had probably forced upon her. Stilling struggling to decide whether she should wear the shirt on her black crop top to satisfy her mother or tie it around her waist and say hell to modesty I honked for a fourth time just to hurry things up. She jogs towards my car, enters the passenger sit, slams the door and throws her plaid shirt to the backseat.
“Why don’t you just break it,” I said feigning irritation.
She sighed loudly, “I’m sorry”
“For someone so small, you are just ”

“Alright, let’s see what you got”
“Ok, so how do you think crazy people walk through the forest?” she asked.
“No, how do they walk through the forest?”
“They take the psycho path. Get it, they take the psycho path!” she grinned from ear to ear

“You know it’s just a joke right?”
“Hmm”
“Ok, moving on. What did the spider do on the computer?”
“I don’t know but I bet you are going to tell me”
“You are no fun but yeah I am going to tell you anyway, because the spider made a website” she said.
“Wow that is one intellectual spider ”
“Omg! Omg!! I just spot a fucking sign” D said.
“What! Where!”
“It says to take a right at the next intersection”
“Ok, am on it” I said as I command the steering wheel to follow D’s instructions, and ho and beyond not so far away lies the pot of gold we been searching for.
“Yep! Finally!” squeaked D

Arriving home, I let myself in knowing mom won’t be back for another two hours. With my bag of goodies I head up to my room one slow step after another. I carefully place the bag on my desk ready to once again admire my goodies. I unwrapped the antique urn first because I think it was my best and favorite buy of the day. I remember seeing the antique urn and quickly getting drawn to it. I had thought it would look great on my desk with petals of daisies springing out of it and now I can’t wait to know if I had been right. I picked up the urn, admiring it once more. The purple and gold intricate details creating a sunset of it’s own. I think the lady who sold it had mentioned that it was french. I make space on my desk for the urn and place it on the side of the desk closest to the window. I get the flowers from my old vase to gift them a new home. I take of the lid of the urn only to see ashes filled in the urn. Ashes? What? The flowers fell from my hand. The room suddenly starts to spin and soon am spinning with it. My heart pounds faster and louder threatening to come out my throat but my throat is closing up. I feel my breathe snatched from me and I grip onto the desk praying that the room stops

As I sat on the metal folding chair, thinking at any moment the wobbly legs would sink into the earth and drop me on the grass, which of course didn’t happen.
