I realized the seriousness of the issues that she was going through when this happened to her, and it made me think of her as the tragic hero even more. In the text it says, “We obeyed; and in the cavern 's farthest corner we saw her lying: She had made a noose of her fine linen veil and hanged herself,” (exodos) and right when I read that I got really mad at Creon for forcing Antigone to choose this path in life, and it made me realize that she is a true hero in my mind. I feel like this was a moment of recognition for both myself and the others in the story, because right after Haimon sees that his father is there he spits in his face and tries to stab him. Haimon misses his father, and ends up dying with Antigone. Creon sees that all of this tragedy has happened because of his actions, and finally makes a coherent thought on the whole situation and wants to die as well. I chose Antigone as the tragic hero of this story, because she has more qualities of one than Creon. Antigone fought for what she believed in, even if she was risking her life while doing it. She has many flaws and problems in this story, but she knows she has them, but she doesn’t change because of it, she embraces it. Antigone made me as a reader want to fight for her rather than Creon, which is why I chose her. In my point of view Creon is more of a villain than a hero, so I wouldn’t choose him either
