Compliance vs. Rebellion: A Study of Justice and what it Means to be Just Antigone’s opposition of the law is a more just action than obedience towards it. This is seen through her dedication to maintain morality and willingness to challenge authority when it becomes negligent and tyrannical. Throughout the play, Antigone seeks to illustrate the righteousness in paying reverence to fallen loved ones despite their opposing political views. This is evident in her attempt to bury her fallen brother Polyenes in the face of the king’s orders to regard him as an enemy of the state and shall be left untouched.
