Research Question:
“To what extent does medication used as anti-depressants have a negative effect on the body and its recovery?”
My focus questions concentrated on the role and treatment of antidepressants amongst individuals combined with the psychiatrist’s opinion and diagnosis in comparison to the patients’.
My research question was chosen through personal interest in the field of medicine. I am intrigued by the mechanisms of the human body and the effects that antidepressants inflict.
Research was carried out by four main processes including: an interview with a psychiatrist, emails, surveys, and credible secondary internet sources.

Two types of surveys were devised: one targeted towards people currently prescribed to any form of antidepressants and the other towards people recovering from the use of an antidepressant. The responses most beneficial where the respondent was asked to write shortly about symptoms, physical and mental feelings, and opinions. One limitation to this process was the small sample size as a result of the sensitive questions presented in the surveys. The questionnaire was sent to specific targeted individuals. Upon reflection professional insight is a great source of evidence to support the research question.
