Anticipatory Set/Motivation:
Introduces the topic/content; provides an overview of lesson; connects to prior lessons; engages students in lesson.
Engage:
1. Put a white board, marker, eraser, and worksheet on each desk before the lesson begins.
2. Ask class to quietly have a seat at their desk and refrain from touching objects on their desk.
3. Okay, class its game time! How many of you have heard of Jeopardy? What is the game about? Points? Questions? Answers?
-Instruct the class that they are going to play a competitive game of Math Jeopardy. Well, I am so excited to play a Jeopardy trivia game with you all today.

I will divide the class up into 4 teams.
2. I will call on a student to pick a category and point value question (100-500).
3. I will display and read the question out loud.
4. You each have a white board, marker, and eraser on your desks (discuss white board etiquette and expectations). You will use these to show your thinking and write the answer. Every student in the class must write the answer to every questions. I will walk around looking for thinking processes and formatively assess students’ understanding.
5. After everyone has written their answer, check with your team. Together you will collectively give 1 answer if called on. If your team disagrees on the correct answer, make sure you have a discussion and explain your thinking to each other so that you can come to an agreement. The whole group must be in agreement on the correct answer before you raise your hands. Remind them that it is a TEAM game and that everyone has to help answer the question,
6. One group member will raise their hand when your team has the answer.
7. I will call on one person on the team to give their answer. They answer must begin with “WHAT IS …..” They must also explain their reasoning and if necessary model their strategy on the …show more content…
Ok, when I call your group please choose your category and value. All groups should solve every problem and the first group to get their hands raised, and answer the question correctly will get the points!
