Each source reveals bias through either the author’s claims, the evidence used in the author’s claims or through the author's ways of persuading the audience to either be in support of the transgender bathroom bill or to be against it. I would say that the interpretation of misinformation comes from both the reader and the writer because the writer may inform the audience of their own viewpoint along with facts and the reader would be the one that would have their own way of interpreting the given information. Based on the the interpretation of the author as well as the viewpoint, the audience is able to have different interpretations of the given information, which can shape the outcome of the next author’s article. The bill prompted a backlash that threatened to hurt the state’s economy which was revamped by lawmakers. This article falls under the neutral category. The intended audience is the general public. This can be seen through the quote, But by virtue of its Lone Star state setting, SB6 is poised to have an outsized impact on a large slice of the American transgender population-one that is already coping with an archaic birth certificate policy that will only magnify the bill's effects.” This statement shows how the author doesn’t give the audience his personal viewpoint. It is credible because the author keeps a neutral tone and standpoint throughout his work. We can see this through the quote, Transgender people may have to travel to a different county to locate a court that will accommodate their request. And even when they people do find a willing judge, the process takes time.” The author gives the audience a statement that is similar to others seen in different articles that remain neutral, This article is not biased because the author does not take a side when informing the audience. We can see this through the quote, “By contrast, even a state like (http://www.transequality.org/documents/state/north-carolina) North Carolina will accept a notarized physician's letter after surgery to update the sex field on a transgender person's birth certificate. In California,

The media coverage of this event might skew the perception of it by making the public feel optimistic or distasteful of Grimm case. This may make the reader change their on transgender bathroom rights. My opinion on this event and social problem is that Gavin Grimm is doing the right thing by bringing his case to the supreme court. Transgender individuals should have the right to go to the bathroom of their gender identity and shouldn’t be denied that right because of societal norms. From a conflict theorist perspective, some groups do not want to support transgender bathroom rights because they want to assert their power and the status quo over the transgender community and other sexual minorities.…

This article is relevant to the Grimm v. Gloucester court case because it is talking about the rights of transgender and well, everyone in general that we do not need to discriminate no matter what. We need to stand up for our youth and what we/they believe in, no matter the cause or what it is really. this is when I started to see where the transphobia was coming from. All it took was one man who disagreed with anti-bias laws meant to protect minorities to snowball out of control to the point where he got what he wanted, a proposed piece of legislation saying “people must use the bathroom assigned to their "biological sex," which is to say the gender on their birth certificates.” it saddens me so much reading this articles know that it was just one person who put all of us, trans people of Texas, in such an awful situation. Moving onto Josh Kenworthy article I learned…

An article was written by Michael J. Broyde, published by CNN, and titled “Transgender Bathroom Issue: A Solution?”, gives a synopsis of the issue of letting people go into the bathroom of their identified gender, rather than just their birth gender. The article opens by just explaining how that this topic got into the limelight when the supreme court took up a case of a high school student trying to use a boy’s bathroom, and whether or not that should be allowed (Broyde). Broyde then goes on to explain that in many religions, including his own, using the bathroom is seen as an extreme private time and shouldn’t be shared with anyone regardless of gender. Then, Broyde gives what he believes to be the best solution to this problem is to make…

The landscape for transgender healthcare has been radically impacted by the passage and implementation of the Affordable Care Act [ACA]. The ACA paved the way for the state and country to address the discrimination and barriers to accessing care that many transgender people have experienced. Over the past few years there have been significant changes to trans-specific healthcare coverage, which can be attributed to the clarification of Senate Bill 2 and the state and federal mandates. In this paper I will discuss the laws more in-depth, how they affect Kaiser Permanente specifically, and some recommendations on how to support fully inclusive healthcare. Background…

In the article, “ My views on interracial couples and mixed race people”, the writer tries to explain why interracial couples are not acceptable, but instead of using valid arguments he misleads the reader with unsubstantiated reasoning and shows himself to be very biased with an obvious and suspect agenda. The article explains why interracial couples shouldn't be encouraged. However, he doesn’t use sources to credit his facts. He wrote, “ In Canada, interracial couples form about 4% of the total national population of couples.”…

Therefore, she provides lawful evidence in order to successfully convince readers of her purpose. She brings up the Title IX education law, which over thirteen federal courts have claimed are supposed to protect transgender students in their school. Tobin goes on even further and claims that O’Connor was false in his statement, “it cannot be disputed that the plain meaning of the term sex is limited to anatomical differences” (Tobin). Tobin reminds her audience that the Title IX education law is meant to protect sexual discrimination of all types. This includes, but is not limited to, gender stereotypes.…

I will admit that my mindset is not always the most open on certain issues, but I will say that I am a proponent of freedom. I may ever need to get an abortion, but I respect the right of a person to get one; I may never be a homosexual man, but I do not give a damn, frankly, if they want to be able to get married and be miserable like the rest of us (I kid, I kid); And I may never be transgender, but I do not care where they use the restroom, or if a female who identifies as male uses the mens room (the article specifies how the issue only seems to care about transgender men using the rest room, so this is my counter perspective), it probably is just going to…
