Nowadays, teens often yearn for more ways to interact with their friends outside from seeing them. In this millennial generation, different types of communication ppare considered necessary to interact with one another even further. Majority of teens use social media as an affable way to interact with one another. Because social media is allowing teens to express themselves, this shows how social media can be propitious for our society. In “Antisocial Networking?”, Hilary Stout uses the aspect of social media to illustrate the jeopardizing effect it is contributing towards kids’ socializing abilities. With many people joining social media and the social networking circles increasing, it allows many people to interact with those around them even more. Stout emphasizes that, “electronic media is helping kids to be in touch much more and for longer…” (Stout 7). Clearly, social networking is being purposeful for the sake of being in touch with people even more than the usual face-to-face interaction. With social media, you can continue exchanges with friends you don’t usually see for much longer. “Some researchers believe that the impersonal nature of texting and online communication may make it easier for shy kids to connect with others” (Stout 8). This is positively impacting teens because social media make their shyness abrogate, and makes it easier to interact with others. From this, we can assume that social networking sites are favorable to the more introverted kids by giving an opportunity to talk to other people they don’t usually interact with on a daily basis. In other words, social media was purposeful towards education since it shows that social media is being promoted to exchange views on various assignments. Since social media is being used for educational functions, it is ensuring that the various assignments are complete, and therefore shows that social media can positively impact school. Melissa Nies states, “Incorporate YouTube videos that display other students and young adults making positive changes in their communities into lesson or daily warm-ups and encourage students to share those ideas on their own Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter accounts.
