Sexual orientation is known to be the 3rd motivator of hate crimes, physical or psychological. These hate crimes are the most violent as well. Statistics show that “More than 1000 hate crimes having to do with sexual orientation are reported every year, but 28% go UN reported.” On average, these crimes have ended with the victim dead or hospitalized. These people’s lives are in danger just because they are living their life the way they want to. When has that ever been wrong? On the upside, this topic has spread to the media now. Children from elementary school to high school are being bullied by their peers because of their sexual orientation. This bullying often leads to these kids committing suicide. Because nothing is being done to stop these children from killing themselves, more and more keep dying. Just imagine yourself, being a young teen in high school fearing for your life every time you step out your house to go to school. Where it’s supposed to be safe and adults are suppose too look out for you. But instead you are being treated with hateful slurs, physical abuse, mental abuse, and no one, not even your friends or parents, are doing anything to stop it.
