Righteous B and His Ministry of Dirty Vagabonds There are many people who have made an impact when it comes to Youth Ministry. Pope John Paul II comes to mind when thinking about leaders in youth outreach, but I always think of someone who works on a much smaller scale. Someone who affected my life personally when it came to my religion. I always think of the Catholic youth minister and rapper Bob Lesnefsky aka Righteous B. With his wife, and a large number of young missionaries Righteous B spreads Gods word across the country. Bob Lesnefsky, also known as the Catholic rapper Righteous B, is a rapper and youth minister in the inner city of Steubenville, Ohio.…

God still has a way of wringing good out of evil. And, history has proven over and over again that unmerited suffering is redemptive. The innocent blood of these little girls may serve as a redemptive force that will bring new light to this dark city. – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr (Hines).…
As a category of American religious history, African-American religious life and the history behind it has often forgotten or briefly summarized in most historians’ work. Prior to the 1970’s, most history written on African-American religion was vague, often just trivial paragraphs in textbooks and considered irrelevant to our nation’s religious history. But as time progressed, history was revisited to show African-American’s having a more prominent voice in America’s religious culture. One historian, Ulrich Bonnell Phillips wrote one of the earliest collections of slave history and life, American Negro Slavery. This book, written in 1918, shaped the perception of what slavery was like for most who did not experience the institution, but…

“The Bible, Africa, and the Church in the Postmodern Era” Another key point, as leaders, pastors, etc. there must be an understanding of the word “postmodern” in order to see the impact it has in African American churches today. If understanding correctly, postmodern thinking implies pleasing people rather than God is okay. In other words, forbidden things are acceptable now; having no biblical insight, denial of absolute and objective truth is the current fade, also to some God really don’t exist. However, it is important to remember Scriptures will clarify all the deceptive, misleading of the postmodern era.…
Growing up in Mississippi as an African American young woman has given me a different perspective of life. As I reflect on my life, my childhood came with morals and values that were instilled at an early age. My mother and father had three beautiful children, two girls and one boy. We were taught to always be respectful to our elders. We were taught to say yes or no mam and sir.…
Religious Experience of Native Americans The Native American religious experience from before the European presence to the 20th century underwent many transformations throughout its evolution. In the beginning, the Olmec and Mayan hierarchical civilizations believed their kings, who were also their religious leaders, were able to communicate with the Gods and ancestors. This demonstrated how the early Native Americans believed that supernatural forces existed. This belief in the supernatural led to the Native Americans developing a cultural relationship between themselves and nature, with the intent to maintain a harmonic balance between the spiritual and living world (Unit 1, Lecture 1).…

In this assignment, I will be outlining and analysing two academic papers written by Michael Young and John White and discussing their key arguments, whilst comparing and contrasting throughout. The key argument in Michael Young’s paper is comprised of a number of aspects related to schooling. The main question that is being addressed is “What are schools for?” One associated factor of this argument mentions that every passing generation has to ensure they attempt to answer this broad-ranging question, due to the significance of how schools have a distinctive role to play for the future of academic individuals.…
For my pastoral interview, I choose to interview the Senior Pastor of Huntington Central Church (Disciples of Christ) Rev. Jacque Parlato. I started the interview by asking Pastor Jacque to describe her call to ministry. More precisely I asked her to describe her calling from the time she first received it up until now. During this question Pastor Jacque began by telling me about her background and early life. She informed me that she was born and raised in Santiago California, to parents that she described as people who didn’t have everything put together.…
