"He is dependable in the way the sun is dependable," wrote Assistant Principal Rick Mohrien in his nomination. "We know that he will be there, preparing our school for another great day of teaching and learning, even on the weekend. We know the building will be clean, safe and prepared each day. More than that, however, we know the he will be there greeting students, providing them with a mentor and support for making positive choices, despite the fact that those are not necessarily part of his job description."

Reid and Houston each received a $100 gift card from award sponsor Monnett & Associates. Reid also received a gift basket of from Classroom Central. They will both be photographed for an I am CMS poster to be displayed at their schools.
