Anthony Elonis was arrested on December 8, 2017 for violating five counts of a federal anti-threat statute. Elonis posted statements on Facebook that seemed like he was threatening people in his life including his ex-wife, an FBI agent. Before his postings, his wife and family left him he also lost his job at an amusement park. After the unfortunate series of events he started posting comments on Facebook that could be taken as statements of threats. He clamed that he didn’t literally mean what he wrote and he didn’t have any malicious intent behind them. The two sides to this issue, one being that he has the right of freedom of speech and if he didn’t actually have the intentions to hurt anyone. The other side is, that is inappropriate and
