When I read the story “Anthem” and the poem “Invictus” i could see the biggest similarities. I'm going to give some back background first and then explain what my thought of the theme is.
After reading “Anthem” I discovered that one male person named equality is striving to become a Scholar. but along the way people of higher court see this and try to put him in his place. Even through all the efforts he still progressed learning about the people of the past.Not only that but he found discoveries of his own such as the “electricity”and feeling for a girl he calls “The Golden One”. But then later on he wants to change the place he lives in with his own inventions which was turned down by officials. later he leaves his home and goes to the uncharted forests and is given a new name “unconquered”. while he was in the forest he take notes of things he sees until he notices that “The Golden One” has followed him. They stay together and head out into the mountains and go farther and farther into the unknown. later they both find a house filled with new things they have never seen before. “Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul.” in this selection I can assume that there are dark time within his life. But,he has a “unconquerable soul” which lets him fight his problems. The message or theme would have to be to never give up. No matter what is throw at you in life you push right through it.
