It is difficult to Imagine one’s life being completely and utterly decided by how intellectually and physically better or worse they are. People may think that the modern world is molded by this concept; however, they are wrong. It is difficult to imagine a community being equal both physical and mental. After reading Anthem by Ayn Rand, and “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnequt Jr. about the future world and the idea of Utopian societies one may see the similarities and ideas of a lot of Utopian societies. Both display acts of equalism, the act of committing transgressions, and superiors in society. Through reading both stories, without a doubt, one may see there are similarities.

Both stories show that the higher intellect are able to rise up and expose the communities for their mistakes and inequalities in there “equalist” society. One may see this through the exceprt, “I am. I think. I will” (Rand 94). This excerpt shows the main character's ability of being able to realize the true individual pronoun and also shows how he resists the community by becoming an individual. In the story “Harrison Bergeron” the man Harrison Bergeron is able to stand up to the community by exposing the truth of the community. In the text it states, “‘Even as I stand here’ he bellowed, ‘crippled, hobbled, sickened - I am a greater ruler than any man who ever lived! Now watch me become what I can become’” (Vonnequt). It is evident Harrison is a higher intellect through his resistance of handicaps, and shows this as an act of resistance.
