According to the book Anthem the world council said to Equality “This was the only thing which moved, for the lips of the oldest did not move as they said: “Street Sweeper” (26). This shows that the people in Equality’s society don’t get to choose their job. They get assigned a job, and they have to keep that job for the rest of their life until they go to the home of the useless. They also don’t have the freedom to talk to whoever they want to. Plus they can’t smile unless told to.
Last of all they can’t have relationships with their family, friends, or anybody at all. Based on what I read in the book Anthem it says “Children are born each winter, but women never see their children and children never know their parents” (41). This shows that family's aren't a thing in their society they don't exist. They can't talk to friends with other job occupations than them. They can only talk to people with the same job.
All in all it's important that the government doesn't have the right to control the individual. If they do they could end up being in something like Equality’s society where people aren't happy with the government. Nobody has freedom there. Last of all they can't have any relationships with their family, friends, and basically anybody at all. This would be an awful place to live in if the government had the right to control the
