Anteiku: A Short Story

Improved Essays
A dark haired male walked down the steps of a small café, hidden from walking pedestrians that often pay no mind as they passed by. It's name is Anteiku, it's not seen by many. It's small, quaint and hardly busy which makes it quite captivating to the unwanted and reels all the introverts in. It's plain and simple, innocent, and an elegant place to come and have a coffee or a small snack with a small group of friends, or by yourself to read a good book. It's a charming little place. Filled with delightful and kind staff that make you feel right at home while you spend your time.

The only downside to this place is that it's run by ghoul's. And the man who just walked down the steps? Also a ghoul. Currently working there. Ah.. Heh, I guess

I've seen him around as a customer with some happy-go-lucky guy that reminds me of a sunflower, but I wouldn't have guessed that he was a ghoul. He gives off an odd, exotic scent. Half ghoul maybe? I don't know, but I've served him a few times. Now that I think about it, I saw Rize with him the other day and haven't heard from her since. She's a regular here, and a big bad binge eater when it comes to humans. She must have tried to lure that Kaneki guy but how he survived is the least of my worries.

I suppose it's good that I haven't seen Miss Rize around. She basically runs the 20th ward, every feeding ground? Claimed by her. Most people have to depend on Yoshimura-san, the manager of Anteiku, or, the Aogiri. The best option is Anteiku, but then you get the ravenous beasts that are in the Aogiri. The Aogiri is a group of ghoul's that want to overrule human's and make this hell-hole into an all ghoul society. As if having ghoul's in the society already isn't bad enough. Not a day goes by without a murder happening. Though, I can't say much being a ghoul

Her. Her eyes were piercing, almost like a cat. Absolutely beautiful. She never ceased to amaze me, and frankly, it always made me wonder how she lived so long without being killed. Every time she and I make eye-contact I only fell harder, I can’t help but want.. No.. Need to be in her life. I wanted her to be mine! I.. I could hear them susurrating in the distance, and I couldn’t help but click my tongue in annoyance. They thought I could not hear them, as with every other human. I suppose my ability to hear things from a distance is both a gift and a curse. The two women pestered on about some idiot they saw. Yes, some ghoul’s are cruel, but humans? Humans are cruel with their words, they pierce through you, stabbing at you endlessly until you explode. No one realizes the damage one takes with one singular sentence

Opening the once lonely door, there was a hallway that seemed to have just rejoiced with a once depriven necessity. As striking as the first rose in spring, her silky, soft, shiny hair combined with her enticingly exquisite eyes produced a sublime look; it instantly ejected any pressure in the room. Her presence would’ve even made an angry person hopeful. Withered by time, the plethora of thin liable cracks scattered across the olive-dyed floors and indigo walls with an antique circular pattern ; this house was old enough to live in a pangea . However, there was a skeptical sense of suspicion of this person.…

The hot, moisty air made her clothes and hair cling to her skin. Her hands began to shake and sweat trickled down her palms. She swore she heard someone’s voice whisper her name, but perhaps it was simply the wind.…
