The United States was a new nation in 1776 with the creation of the Declaration of Independence. The US would have to find a way to govern and somehow produce money. The economy would grow as well as the country with people having to find new and fast ways to get from place to place. They would also need to start taking strides in that all men are created equal and deserve equal rights. Over the years there would be improvements made to find a better way for the government, economy, and social factors in the country. The United States government is made of three branches the legislative, executive, and judicial branch to have checks and balances so that no one person could control the country. The constitution was created in 1787 and ratified in 1788, it held the laws of the US in different articles, and more would get added with the nations needs. It had started with seven articles and the first ten amendments are known as the bill of rights. Some of the bill of rights amendments were, freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition, right to bear arms, rights of accused persons, right of trial by jury in civil cases, freedom from excessive bail, cruel, and unusual punishments, and powers reserved to the states. They were slaves and never truly treated as humans, they didn't have the same rights as a white person. After the 13th amendment was introduced, which caused the abolishment of slavery. The government also put the 14th and 15th amendments in place to help give them rights, even though segregation would still be a factor. This would help push the civil war into happening because of peoples beliefs over slavery. They would still be treated poorly but America was slowly going in the direction to have all have equal
