Ana the main character; parents’ have been having problems for a long time. Her father was not satisfied with the way his wife looked and her mother was not satisfied by the way her husband acted upon her appearance. That is shown through the actions that Ana’s father show whenever his wife is eating more than a salad. Her mom and dad’s relationship and one specific day was the turning point that caused her parents to desire a divorce, leaving Ana in the custody of her mother. This was one of the events that led Ana to become Anorexic in the sense she wanted to make sure what happened to her parents’ did not happen to her and her boyfriend Jack. Throughout the book when her mon tries to make Ana eat she screams that she wants to make her miserable
