Oh my gosh! This website link was extremely difficult to even read. I had to pause and take breaks in between reading them as it was very mind boggling. This pro-ana website was definitely contributing to the disorder of anorexia nervosa. All 58 of the Pro Ana tips were clues, hints, and instructions on how to maintain your anorexia. Nothing on there was on helping people recover from anorexia. I never knew websites like these existed. I can recall watching several Lifetime Movie network shows regards anorexia nervosa. All of them showed the different warning signs to look for and all of the different things that some of them did just to stay thin. They all felt like they were fat even if they took a bite of food you would see them vomiting all the food back up. Which I have learned is bulimia nervosa. …show more content…
Don't eat before 3:00. Cut each bite into x amount of pieces, chew x amount of times. Do not eat anything that has over 3 grams of fat. The times was a red flag and cutting and chewing each bite into small pieces and a certain amount of times. Those were signs into continuing the anorexia habits. The next suggestion was to keep Ana at the center of your life. Why must this be the center when you are trying to recover? The third suggestion was to, drink a full glass of water before you eat and then sip a full glass between bites, you'll get full much faster. Remember it takes 20 minutes for the brain to realize the stomach is full. Why are they still wanting them to keep the same habits by staying full of water? While the last two suggestions were to eat 4 100 calorie meals is better than one 400 calorie meal, and think before you eat and not while distracted. I would think helping build the calories up would be a good thing versus confusing on counting calories and thinking about the foods you are going to

    Unlike other forms of diseases that are normally treated with immense seriousness, the diagnosis, study, and treatment of anorexia nervosa was often left at the surface-level, leaving no desire to seek further explanation as to why women were self-starving. This idea stood out to me mainly because it speaks volumes as to how little women were valued and how much they were sexualized. Had the lives of women been valued and appreciated more, these physicians would have gone out to investigate the real cause for this disease and not merely settled with an effect of anorexia to be its own cause, as well. As O’Conner beautifully explains, “physicians argued circularly that the anorexic body was emaciated because it was anorexic, and strenuously resisted the notion that this body might be anorexic because of something else” (557).
