This disease continued developing more over time as society’s outlook changed. In the 1970’s, people began to write excessively about this disease. These articles raised awareness with regards to women’s issues with body image. As our culture progressed, people changed their thoughts on how women should look. In 1978, a psychologist name Bruch was the first to publish a book with testimonies from young women who have suffered from anorexia. Since, there have been many publishing’s about this disease, along with numerous scientist’s theories about it. Starvation can cause abnormal electrolytes in the blood. When a person has low electrolytes it can cause major damage such as abnormal heart-rate. Due to the lack of protein, all the muscles in your body become super weak including your heart muscle. Because of the weakening of your heart muscle, blood is not able to circulate throughout your body as well as it is needed. This can lead severe brain damage which will eventually kill someone.
