Anonymous Survey Analysis

Based on the answers we received, we were able to get a better idea of what is going well and what is not going well in our class. We are used to having our own opinions about how a particular activity or class may have gone, but we found it really helpful to get a clearer image through student feedback. While some of the responses are what we anticipated, some were a bit eye-opening. For example, while we expected that students might want to see less lecture-style facilitation taking place during class, we were surprised to learn that an overwhelming majority of our class would like to see fewer icebreakers. Another surprising aspect of our check-in survey responses was the large portion of students who reported that they want to become better acquainted to UConn. Realistically, very few students can completely adjust to college in just two and a half months, but based on the way that students carry themselves and talk about their experiences so far, many give the appearance that they are completely acquainted and no longer need guidance. One of the benefits of an anonymous survey is that students felt more comfortable providing honest answers, allowing us to get a better idea of what is really going on in their experiences so far. With this in mind, we can continue to provide information about campus resources and other information. Even though some students might treat the topics as unnecessary, it has become clear to us through the survey that many truly do need to continue to receive more information and
