Thank you again for coming tonight for the 2017 Annual TED Talks. As one of the event organizers, I’m here to introduce our next speaker, Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, President of UMBC. Before Dr. Hrabowski speaks tonight about the importance of STEM education, I would like to talk about his accomplishments and share a little story with you.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Hrabowski grew up with his parents who were both math teachers. Naturally, he was so talented at math that at just the age of 19, he graduated from the Hampton Institute with high honors in mathematics.
