It is an “approved knowledge” from the government delivering to their youth generation as a guidance to learn, remember and understands their past. As in result, it is very important for every nation to address the "canonical national historical narrative" to their generations. Japan's "New history textbook" received such controversy feedbacks in Asia mainly surrounding its issue on intentionally distorted the history. Large sections on atrocities committed by the Japanese were selectively concealed or lightly mentioned throughout the textbook which turns out to be the main reason that triggered the Chinese and Korean's "national furore" . Some international scholars believed that the "New history textbook" is inappropriate as an educational tool as it prevents students from learning the truth about the past . In addition, Japanese history textbooks are not only controversial internationally, there are evidences showing that it was also hugely contentious domestically . A well respected historian Ienaga Saburo attempted to sue the Ministry of Education, charging that “the process of textbook approval was unconstitutional and illegal” .
