This article was originally published in 1895. E. K. Chambers, an English literary critic and Shakespearean scholar argue that for sure Shakespeare did not mean for Hamlet to be mad. “The Embassy of Death.” Oxford University Press. London: Routledge Classics, 2001. Web. 29 Apr. 2016.
This article is about the essay called “The Embassy of Death,” written by Wilson Knight, a literary critic, about Hamlet. Knight describes Hamlet as evil and Claudius as a good man. Knight argues that Hamlet is the mad soul that destroys most of the characters. This article is useful to my research as it discusses an uncommon interpretation of the play. The limitation of this blog is that Mitchell does not discuss any …show more content…
The desire of revenge is too powerful so the only thought in Hamlet’s mind is retaliating his uncle Claudius. It does not help Hamlet the fact that his mother is not available to console him because he believes he loses his mother when she marries his uncle Claudius. This article is useful to my research because it adds the fact of Hamlet not able to mourn his father’s death. The article establishes a correlation between the obligation to search for revenge and the possibility to grief. One can only reach the mourning stage if one is able to seek revenge. This message fits within my research to analyze the rising action of the play. The revenge for his father’s death is one the reasons that develops the climax and the rest of the
