The Indiana plagiarism test has taught me more than I knew about plagiarism and ways that I could avoid doing it. I always thought that citations were simple, unfortunately, the way I thought I should cite an article or a journal was not giving enough information on how to find the correct article that I am using, even though I have listed the citation on my reference page. I have always misunderstood intext citation, which shows the reader the what I have copied from the article that I am summarizing. This made reach a hypothesis that due to my obesity, I have trouble sleeping. Both Shin-Shyuan Sally Yeh and Rhonda Frances Brown had an objective which was as they stated, “We evaluated the relationship between poor sleep quality and high body mass index (BMI) in a community-derived sample” (Yeh & Brown, 2014). After reading the article, the authors have proven my hypothesis correct, because I am obese and have a high BMI, I have trouble sleeping. However, this does not mean that if a person has sleeping problems then we can conclude that he has a high BMI. The authors of the article have conducted a survey among a total of 330 participants, all above the age of 18, and based on the results they have reached a conclusion of “… high BMI was shown to be related to shorter sleep duration, longer sleep latency, greater use of sleep medications and worse binge-eating, after controlling for depression and demographics” (Yeh & Brown, 2014). I have had these problems when I was obese, which assures the hypothesis that I have developed is in fact correct. However, there are other factors that contribute to the high BMI and affect sleep, the main two factors are night-eating syndrome (NEM) and binge-eating disorder (BED).
