“The Story of Change” video emphasizes how the fault of the world’s sustainability may be pointed in the wrong direction. The presenter, Annie Leonard argues that the blame is not to be put off on the bad shoppers, but that the correct people to blame should be policy makers and the businesses. Therefore, these consumers cannot make change happen themselves. It begins with current policies in place and those who abide by them. Leonard also argued that many of the policies is to aid the environment do not accurately reflect public opinion, but rather have been skewed by corporations. Only until effective change happens there, we will begin to see efficient solutions roll into motion.

Leonard was spot on about that. I have always been skeptical about how much of a change citizens could or have been making alone with their recycling habits and “Go Green” products. Don’t get me wrong; those things are super great ways to encourage a healthy earth and simplistic living. However, as Leonard stated, change also cannot stop there. Leonard support this by saying that “ If we actually want to change the world, we cannot talk only about consumers voting with our dollars”. To elaborate, Leonard means that it will requires transformation in the current laws and regulations. However, what Leonard overlooked is that this idea of having everybody in the world on the same page is not practical. Having everyone agree on a issue is very difficult to do because everyone has different view points in the world. For instance, topics like murder or rape can be topics that the large majority of people can agree that this is a problem. However, sometimes murders can be found acceptable if under the right circumstances, like a honor killing or self defence. Thus, to get everybody on the “green” side of things can be an impossible task to do because there are too many people with too many
