Annie Laurie’s faith was central to her life from the start. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young age. Her faith in God was everything to her. She met the love of her life, Joseph Preacely at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. In 1955 they wed, cultivating a marriage that spanned 61 years. To this union, two daughters were born, Coletta Lynette (who preceded her in death) and Karen Lafay Preacely. She raised her family in Zion Baptists temple church where she was the church announcement clerk.
Annie was a devoted wife, mother and teacher. She worked 30 years with Compton Unified School district as a teacher. She was very active in her …show more content…
She was a mentor to many of the younger teachers. She also loved reading, poetry and water aerobics. Annie was a fashion ester she loved to dress. Miss Ann had such refine style she was definitely a trend setter.
On December 21, 2016 Annie Laurie left us unexpectedly, but her legacy of love remains in each of us. Annie was preceded in death just recently by her daughter Coletta. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Joseph Preacely, and her daughter Karen Preacely Hicks and her husband Karl. Son in law Thomas Garcia. Four grandchildren Aracely Ellis, Tramaine Hicks, Ariyon Ellis and Tiffany Hicks. Four sister Blanche Clay, Elnora Crews, Cleola Burden, and Aretha Jones and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
