In her diary, Anne Frank, much like George Orwell, has a “desire to push the world in a certain direction” and to emphasize the kind of society other people should begin to strive toward. A Jewish teenager living in Holland during the Holocaust, Anne is forced into hiding and must bear witness the atrocities and anti-semitism brought forth by Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. Using a diary she received for her birthday, she recounts her life during the Holocaust and her views on the world and how they gradually change as time goes on.
