Anne Of The Thousand Days Essay

This film shows how little marriage is truly valued and how people choose not to stay faithful to the person they claim they love. Henry says his marriage was not true with Catherine because she was married to his brother first, but at that point why did he marry her as well as hold hands with her? Maybe he was in love with her, maybe he wasn’t, but he then choose to get a divorce with and convince everybody that he was now in love with Anne Boleyn. At this point he is pretty much a middle school guy, but instead of dumping and moving with the girls he no longer ‘wants’ because he can’t get a male heir, he just has their heads cut off, or makes his own church. Anne Of The Thousand Days shows how the power of the church is very important yet the king of the time can easily overthrow it. Henry states in the movie that he is a very religious man but it takes him a short time to decided to go against the church all because they won’t allow him to divorce Catherine. Also throughout the movie Cardinal Wolsey states many times that he serves the king first, but he is a man of God, so at that point shouldn’t he be following the lord first? Lastly, Henry shows that he doesn't have much respect for the men of God and is seen yelling at one in the scene when he is telling them that he is making his own church. …show more content…
According to PBS’s project on Henry the eighths six wives Anne was in fact very confident, charming and talkative as well as not being very quiet or gentle. Also I found in research and found in the film that she had a terrible temper, as shown in the scene when Henry explains to her about his troubled marriage. The movie was a very realistic in portraying the figure of Anne Boleyn as well. PBS states that she was medium height. not full figured, and long necked which was shown in the movie. Anne in real life and in the hollywood's views are very similar and portrayed very

The Pilgrimage of Grace caused a significant separation between commoners and King Henry VIII. Because the Protestant Reformation was just beginning, many people were unhappy with the abrupt change in the country’s religion. When Henry VIII asserted his power over the church, he was only concerned with divorcing his wife, Catherine of Aragon. He didn’t consider how his people might react. The oath taken by marchers of the Pilgrimage stated their love of the Catholic Church and strong opposition to the Act of Supremacy, signifying a split in the loyalty of the king’s subjects (Doc 1).…

The play, The Diary of Anne Frank shows a theme that causes the readers to reflect less on the main character Anne herself and highlights the effect her words had on others. The theme of this play is to not focus on the negative side of a situation and focus on the positive. Anne shows this at the end of Act ll, lines 1372 and 1373 when she writes her last words in her journal. She writes "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." By saying this, Anne is showing the theme by displaying how after everything that has happened, she still believes people are good at heart.…

However, Henry’s consistent visits and encounters with Catherine turns into more than just lust. When he is thinking about the war before returning to the front, thoughts about her invade his mind and he ends up fantasizing about her as well. Although it is normal for Henry to have these fantasies, it shows a side that we as readers don’t see in the beginning and those are feelings. He was an emotionless man who had no passion, commitment, or love but it is evident that he starts to have feelings for Catherine, exceeding past their little game they play.…
