This quote shows that “ Historian Michael Winship calls Hutchinson "a prophet, spiritual adviser, mother of fifteen, and important participant in a fierce religious controversy that shook the infant Massachusetts Bay Colony from 1636 to 1638",[126] upheld as a symbol of religious freedom, liberal thinking, and Christian feminism.( Wiki ) Anne Hutchinson is a contentious figure, having been lionised, mythologized, and demonised by various writers. “ For me this quote showed that to many people she was religious leader who many people believed in and a person who changed history and believed the most in women 's rights and making equality a known thing. Anne was such a powerful person that when she got put in jail twenty-three people signed a paper known as Portsmouth Compact. This paper allowed Rhode Island to elect a new governor and maybe let Anne get out of jail. Nineteen of the men that signed that paper were planning on moving to Long Island or New Jersey but instead settled in the Providence Plantations. After Anne’s church trial she went on a six day journey from Boston to Roger Williams, Anne also brought all thirteen of her kids. From there they took boats to get to Aquidneck Island which was later known as Rhode Island. Anne lived in this house before they moved to Rhode Island. There were many pieces of writing written in Hutchinson’s favor, one of them is “ The Scarlet 's Letter “. There was also a play written for her once too and that was directed by Dan Shore and it was called Anne Hutchinson. Not only does she have statues, books, or plays but she also has landmarks in her name. There is a river in New York City that is called the Hutchinson River, there are also many elementary schools named after here as well. She was a very well known person around that area of that country and she was a leader type of figure to many people that lived in that area. At one of the memorials named after Anne they spent a long time discussing ways to celebrate her and they finally decided that every year near the twentieth of July people from all over would get together and celebrate Anne and this day was known as Friends of Anne Hutchinson. The reason they celebrated it near that specific day was because that was the day that Anne got baptised.
