Anne is expieriencing an internal conflict. On one hand she wants to be nicer to Dr.Dussel and her mother. She feels bad on how she has been acting towards these two people.On the other hand, She feels like she wants to be the nice happy Anne but she is scared to show who she really is.Anne is able to confide her father, but not others. She may be afraid that she will be made fun of and laughed at because people are used to the mean Anne and they would not take her serious. Mr. Frank is more concerned with how Anne feels and he tries to look at things from her point of view.
