This is how Anne Frank felt during her teen years. Because of the Holocaust, Anne was unable to even have a normal teenage life. After her life in her normal home at her normal school, she was forced to live in the upstairs in an attic. No one was to know that Anne’s family, along with the Van Daans, was staying there. If anyone found out, they would be put in danger from being discovered by the police. Throughout her short life, Anne had a jovial personality. Instinctively, she felt compelled to believe the best in people, even in her darkest times. She had a poor way of life, and was malnutritioned like the rest of the Jews. They only got supplies from the outside world from the help of a man named Mr. Kraler and Miep Gies. Over the two years they were in the Annex, Anne was always looking on the bright side of life. She pretended the Annex was a boarding school to make it seem more appealing and charming. “Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.” It is obvious in this quote that she is able to look on the bright side of everything. She seems to over qualify as an optimist! In addition, this quote proves Anne’s ability to notice the best in people. We can see Anne’s cheerful nature in her famous quote about loving the things around you, and always making the best of any situation.

Anne Frank’s diary is a record of her time in hiding and reveals important traits about her character.

As Helen Keller once said, “Keep your face to the sunshine and you will not see a shadow.” This can also mean that the most effective way of getting through a crisis is to have a positive outlook, and not to focus on the negatives. She fought for her own life and for her loved ones’ lives, and her mental strength is one reason why she made it as long as she did. If she hadn’t looked on the bright side, despite her bleak situation, she would've never had the faith or will to survive.…
