After continuingly seeing each other, Anne and Peter start to have a better relationship with each other. This is important because Anne now has a close friend that she can rely on and talk to. She can also express her feelings to Peter when times get hard in the annex. Peter is comforting to Anne and is willing to listen to her just like she is to him.
